Someone Please Stop Time!

I can't believe how much our little man has changed in two weeks and how fast that two weeks has gone. He is 6 days old in this picture, one of the few I have with his eyes open. I haven't taken as many pictures as I thought I would, maybe because I'd have to put him down for 2 minutes and go get a camera. I could stay home forever and hold him and kiss him and love on him, probably not too cool when he is 11, but for now that is what our days consist of (besides naps with dad on the couch after Rachel Ray and The Dr.s, you know, male bonding).

The Moment You've All Been Waiting For

This is Carter David. He was born on Sunday, February 15th at 8:38 am, weighed 7 lbs 10 oz and was 21" long. Labor started Friday night and got really intense on Saturday afternoon. We headed to town Saturday after dinner and by the time we got there my contractions were 4 minutes apart. I thought for sure he'd be a Valentine's Day baby, but he decided to stay put for a few more hours. He would have been born hours earlier but the epidural slowed my contractions down from every 2 minutes to every 15 minutes. Either he is stubborn as can be or I wasn't any good at pushing because after about 30 minutes his heart rate dropped and the doctor wanted him out sooner than later (I heard c-section), so he used the vacuum a bit then I went back to pushing. After 2 hours of pushing and only getting his head out to his ears, the doctor asked if I just wanted him to vacuum him again and pull him out. YES PLEASE! So our precious little boy was not so cute when he came out. He had one heck of a cone head with a huge bruise, but that's why they make baby hats. His head is fine now, just a little red spot and a scratch. We got to come home on Monday at noon, and he slept the whole way home, not one peep. He's been a pretty easy baby so far. We had a little bout of jaundice, but it's clearing up, so no more pumpkin head. These first few days have been busy, but I've been taking lots of pictures and will try to post them soon.

Baby Update, February 9, 2009

Nothing to tell you. I went to the Dr this morning and I was hoping he'd have to admit me because I was on the verge of delivering, but to my disappointment, I'm not even 1/2 a centimeter dilated. I go in again on Monday, February 16th, hopefully dilated. Til then, keep waitin'.

You might have noticed that this is the same as the last post. That is because ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAS CHANGED! Don't be scared, I wasn't yelling at you, just raising my voice out of frustration. I know I'm not due for another 5 days, but come on, 1/2 a centimeter, something, anything. I'm not even having Braxton Hix contractions, all the pain from last weekend is gone, and he's still moving like crazy not taking a couple days off to save up energy for his debut.

Baby Update, January 28, 2009

Sorry, but there isn't much to tell and no pictures to post. The last appointment entailed measuring my belly and listening to his heart rate, which was 134 beats per minute. I go back February 4th for another appointment, so maybe I'll have more news to post then. I'll do my best to get a picture of the little bean up as soon as possible, til then, keep waitin'.

Summer Vacation

For those of you who are planning your summer vacations, the Fort Peck Summer Theatre (there's a link somewhere on this page) posted their play schedule, and I hear Fort Peck is a really nice summer vacation spot. There's lots of other stuff to do around Fort Peck besides the summer theatre (there's a link for that kind of stuff somewhere on this page too).

Three Weeks to Go?

Only three weeks to go, give or take two weeks. I think that mostly guarantees a February baby. He can only be born January 31st, February 7th, or February 14th. The 31st because that's my birthday and he'd be the 3rd generation on the Wilson side with a January 31st birthday. My Auntie Anne is the other January 31st baby. February 7th works because in my math nerd brain 02+07=09, and February 14th is just a good day. Don't worry, I'll keep everyone posted as we get closer.

It's Time To Name Our Little Bean

We finally agreed to these seven names, but can't seem to narrow it down any further. I told Landon he could pick the last name and I'd pick the first. That almost worked. He wanted to name him if he was a boy and me to name her if she was a girl, but I wouldn't go for that. So here we are, leaving our little boy's name up to our blog visitors. His middle name has already been decided, Marie, after me. Just kidding. David, it's Landon's middle name. So it has to sound good together, ------ David Holte. If our little bean was a girl her name would have been Eden Marie Holte, no other choices. But, he's a boy and we only have three weeks to decide, so get voting!

The Worst Dog in the Whole World

She isn't really. This adorable lab has been sneaking up on the bed at about 5 am. Of course she has to sleep on my side, by my legs. Well, as you can imagine, I'm not all that comfortable while sleeping anyway, so I've been kicking her off and back down to the floor. On this particular morning I kicked her off and went back to sleep until the alarm went off. I got up, took and shower, and headed back to the bedroom for some clothes, only to find Abby on the bed again. This time on my pillow and snuggled in. I think she was trying to tell me something. She finally figured out she doesn't get to sleep on the bed anymore, so now when the alarm goes off she stands next to me and stares until I get up and let her have the bed. They just might be smarter than we give them credit for. We have those "Marley and Me" moments quite frequently, but how can you not love them?

Aaahh, How Cute

I couldn't resist taking this picture. We spent Christmas in Watford City, ND with Landon's side of the family. Landon had a busy morning of ice fishing and Cruz had a busy morning of doing baby things, and they needed an afternoon nap, under the tree. Cruz is already 3 months old and growing like crazy. Our little bean is already getting hand-me-downs from his cousin. Spending Christmas with Cruz just makes the days til we have ours seem longer. Only 6 more weeks though!
